Difference Between Analysis & Analytics
It is very obvious to think that analysis and analytics are the same words with same meaning but these have different meanings in Data Science World. As a beginner I’ve also made a mistake to think that analysis and analytics is the same thing . Let see the differences between Analysis and Analytics.
Analysis is about separating a dataset into easy-to-digest chunks and studying them individually and examine how they relate to other parts. Analysis is mainly done on the data that we have from some past event. Analysis define two keywords related to past event how and why .
For example — A clothing brand will analyse their sales data from the previous year, they look up and understand their profit trends and patterns according to the season/month.
Analytics is the application of logical and computational reasoning to the component parts obtained in an analysis. In Analysis we look for patterns and exploring what we could do with them in the future.
For example — if the brand is planning on, to launch some new summer collection then would it be feasible to lunch it during the winter season? Obviously, the analysed past year’s data will guide them through and suggest the most appropriate month to launch the same in order to maximize the profit.
Here we find the relationship that Analytics is the combination of outcomes from the analysis of previous data with logical and computational reasoning.
